White space in life.

Are you aware of the White Space available to you?

In printing, the white space used in a layout is calculated to allow the reader to pause in order to digest and absorb the meaning of the printed text before moving on to the next bit of information.

In business, the white space for a company is the pause to explore unrealized opportunities – innovation, growth, and expansion.

In a person’s life, white space is a moment to pause.

An opportunity to choose stillness and to take a purposeful breath and nothing else.

It allows you a private moment to just BE vs being busy.

The white space moments are already a part of your life.

Whether or not you are aware of your white space is another matter.

These are moments only You can give yourself - these moments already belong to you and you deserve to take them at will.

You get to decide if your white space moment lasts 30 seconds or 3 minutes.

The length of time spent in your white space is not the point of the activity.

The importance of the activity is…

  • to be aware and acknowledge that the white space is already yours

  • to give yourself permission to access and experience it

  • and to reap the benefits of this bit of private time with yourself

Most of us lead hectic, layered lives that have us juggling a range of activities and emotions - often in service of others. All of this busy work pulls on the threads of our energy and it is often a tug-of-war for our attention.

Still, there are fractional instances that you get to claim for yourself, and believe it or not, there is room in your day to have them.

The rewards are as plentiful as you can imagine. Here are just a few…

Use your white space to appreciate the task you just completed - all effort is worth acknowledgment. And if the task wasn’t worth the effort, well, you are now wiser for this reflection.

That compliment you received is worth being soaked in. If you find it difficult to receive and appreciate compliments, all the more reason to use your white space to improve your sense of self-worth.

Taking time in your white space to recognize the long way you’ve come and all the good impact you’ve made, is the best way to refuel your energy, drive, and resilience to keep living your purpose.

Use your white space to reflect if you are making the best use of your energy and if your attention is on the important things that are taking you in the right direction. Being on busyness autopilot is commonplace for many!

Now that you are aware of your white space, I urge you…Before you hurry to move from one activity to another, please take a moment in your white space.
